So much bytes in Devoxx UK 2013

Hi all, welcome to my geek notes :-)

This is the first quick resume of some of the good stuff in Devoxx UK 2013, which I had the privilege to take part of, paying the entrance fee of course, but still a great gratification for learning so much content, much more than I can cope and summarise here in this post.

All video talks will be available at Parleys.com at devoxxuk tag. Still not sure if they will be free to everyone or only for the attendees. I hope that they will make it all free as there are amazing good talks to be watched.

First, attending to the "The programmer" key note by Kevlin Henney. The talk was so absorbing, full of quotes and references about programmers motivation, intellectual challenges, skills, etc....
Some good references like the "Cluetrain manifesto" about people and companies relationships. Kevlin referred few quotes from Paul Graham about programmers as individuals and some quotes from the book of "The wisdom of crowds" by James Surowiecki about programmers as a group.
Coming to the final point that as a developer it is good to learn a lot of things but it is possibly better to focus and improve skills at one thing, becoming an expert of an area will usually make more sense than being a plain widely tech guy of everything

Kevlin's is the author of many books, like the "97 things every programmer should know", which personally I have in the "to read" list.

More posts about Devoxx UK 2013 coming soon ....
